HIV organizations across Europe have signed a petition, calling on the European Union to take action and ensure the 'Equal Treatment Directive' includes HIV under the definition of disability in order to outlaw discrimination for PLWH across Europe.
If 70% of the male population was circumcised by 2015, there would be a 14% reduction in the number of new HIV infections in sub-Saharan Africa. Over 20 years, it is estimated that this practice would avert 5.7 million new infections and 3 million deaths
