According to the latest update from UNAIDS, young women in sub-Saharan Africa are 8 times more likely to be infected with HIV than men of the same age.
The ancestor to AIDS is in one chimpanzee subspecies, Pan troglodytes troglodytes, which in nature lives only between the Sanaga and Congo Rivers. Note that chimpanzees can’t swim!
